Says Alize, the protagonist of this story. She is twenty-two years old, beautiful as water and... you say she is selfish, yes? Well, not really. None of us stay the way we were born; just as drops of water erode and mould huge rocks, so we too are shaped by events in our lives.

The day Alize was born, her mother died. Alize feels profound guilt, although she conceals it so as not to upset her father, Nurettin. Add to this guilt the concessions Nurettin makes to ensure Alize’s happiness, and you have a person who is aggressive, selfish, and essentially at odds with herself. But Nurettin has a change of heart when his daughter flees after hitting a mechanic. He decides to educate his child before it is too late, with his first goal to teach Alize to respect the decisions and wishes of others. Thus Nurettin proposes to Sinem, the woman he fell in love with after his wife’s death; he had repressed his feelings all those years to avoid upsetting his motherless daughter. But when Alize learns that her father is going to propose to Sinem — not from Nurettin, but from the engagement ring he found in her room — all hell breaks loose!
